Getting Started With Social Media for Graduate Enrollment Marketing

Let me read your mind for a second. You read the title of this post and thought to yourself, “Here we go again. Another article on why social media is 'so important' and why everyone who is not on the social media bandwagon has essentially 'missed the boat'.”

Did I hit the nail on the head? Was I at least close? I attended NAGAP’s 27th Annual Conference in San Diego this past April (Direct Development has been a NAGAP member for 8 years now) and was shocked at how many people approached me and asked me if I had any wisdom on how to optimize social media specifically for graduate enrollment management.

I threw some quick tips out there, but could see that the ideas I was proposing were more overwhelming than helpful. As my team and I debriefed from the conference upon our return from San Diego, we discussed the current challenges concerning social media that many graduate schools seemed to be facing.  

Since then, we’ve spent quite some time racking our brains, tearing our hair out, and doing all that good stuff, in an attempt to figure out how to most effectively guide our GEM friends in developing a clean-cut, understandable, yet effective, social media strategy.

And then it came to us!
