Ding dong ditch your boring pitch

YOUR PARENTS ARE OLD AND YOU STILL CARE ABOUT THEM: Just because something is old doesn’t mean it should be ignored – whether it’s your parents or blog posts! Here are 5 compelling reasons you should republish old blog content. Older blog posts have high organic traffic numbers, but sometimes they’re filled with outdated information. Updating and remarketing this post could lead to a spike in traffic.

Why you should care: Your team did all the hard work of creating the blog post, now you just have to update it. Once it’s updated you can distribute it via all the same channels you would a new blog post. Even if potential applicants have read the original, this one contains new and updated information they will care about.

DON’T BE AS ANNOYING AS A DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESMAN: Quit selling and start informing. Adobe just released a new survey and AdWeek highlighted in a blog post that 40% of consumers want email to be less promotional and more informative. This post is riddled with data that shows what users want and how they want it. Take notes!

Why you should care: Because you want to please potential applicants and get them to apply to your university. But on a less obvious level, you should care because email is still a dominant way to drive potential applicants down the content nurturing funnel.

DESPITE POPULAR BELIEF, YOUR GUT DOESN’T MAKE THE BEST DECISIONS: Many marketers go with their gut when making a tough decision, and often times that results in missed opportunities. Check out this 5-step approach to becoming an analytical marketer. This article goes into detail about the importance of analytics and how they can help you make the best decision, depending on your numerical goal.

Why you should care: If you have a coupon in your pocket to save 15% when buying groceries and you get to the register but decide not to use it, that’s a missed opportunity – this is no different. The analytical data is there, your enrollment marketing team just needs to analyze it and determine how you can be more efficient. Maybe you have a very small team and just don’t have the man-hours, you may need help from an inbound marketing agency!
