YOO-HOO – AMERICAN GRAD STUDENTS – WHERE ARE YOU?: New York University’s Tandon School of Engineering has an undergraduate and graduate program, but they look very different. Undergrad consists of 80% American students, while the grad program is populated by 80% international students. Many international students feel comfortable though because they know they will be surrounded by others facing similar challenges when attending graduate school in another country.

Why you should care: Has your enrollment marketing team noticed a slight increase over the years in international students? Even if you haven’t seen a substantial increase it may be time to increase your marketing efforts to countries like India, China, Korea, Turkey, and other notable countries that drive graduate level students to the states. Not sure how to go about this? Here’s a good place to start.

THE WIZARD OF MOZ, AND IT WON’T TAKE 2 HOURS: Like most things with SEO, it's important to be strategic and intentional with your keyword targeting decisions — especially when it comes to targeting your competitors keywords. In this piece, the Wizard of Moz shares his recommended process for understanding your funnel, identifying the right competitors to track, and prioritizing which of their keywords you ought to target.

Why you should care: Your rankings on Google could determine whether a prospective applicant finds your content or not, which in this space holds more value than in the B2B world. Targeting particular keywords holds tremendous value, but not if it’s done incorrectly. First things first, build a keyword list and then go from there!

DWINDLING LIKE YOUR MOTIVATION ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Users are spending less and less time on Facebook these days, but that doesn’t mean they’re on the internet any less. So where are they virtually hanging out? Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, other social platforms. The key there is Snapchat, which saw an average increase from 3 hours to 4, which may not seem like a lot but the percentage of growth is incredible – imagining increase your applications that much!

Why you should care: Facebook is the go-to for many people when they think about advertising on social media, and for good reason. We are not advising that your direct any attention away from Facebook advertising, but we do recommend experimenting with advertising via other social platforms. Our current favorite is Snapchat, because it’s a David looking to defeat the Goliaths – and we love that!
