FACEBOOK SAY, FACEBOOK DO: There has been criticism of Facebook since its inception – from who really created it to the 2016 election – but can you trust them when they say their ads work? If you’re in a rush this morning, the answer is yes! For those of you wanting to learn a little bit more about how you can be sure Facebook ads actually work, it’s simple and data-backed.

Why you should care: I would never beat a horse, dead or alive, but this cannot be expressed enough: your prospective students are still on Facebook – FOR NOW! You’ve seen the Facebook demographic metrics a hundred times, but what you need to start preparing for is the day you can’t reach them on social networks anymore. Their trust is how you will get in front of their eyes on a regular basis, not with your wallet.

JUST LIKE A FLU SHOT, THIS MAY STING A BIT: HubSpot has put together a detailed infographic of marketers’ expectations vs their subscribers’ reality. We highly recommend reading this and taking note of what your enrollment team may think to be true versus what is actually true. Let data do the talking, not your team’s gut.

Why you should care: Ask, ask, ask will only get you so far, and continues to be less effective as the years go by. So, if that is no longer the way of student recruitment, what is? Inbound marketing – it utilizes ALL of your marketing efforts and intertwines them into one beautiful strategy that nurtures potential applicants, rather than just shoving an app in their face every chance you get.

INSTAGRAM WANTS TO BE iNSTAGRAM: That was a Siri-ously bad iPhone joke, so let’s move on and act like it didn’t happen. Here’s what we should have lead with: Instagram is looking to turn it’s platform into a fully-functional phone, which may soon include video and voice calling.

Why you should care: Is your Instagram strategy like your new iPhone X? Nonexistent. We thought so, but luckily for you we have some awesome tips for your enrollment marketing team. Also, great news: if you’re a HubSpot user, you can now publish to Instagram straight from HubSpot. Not on HubSpot, or even know what HubSpot is all about – give us a call!
